As with standard labels, the desired service life, the surface on which it must be placed, the environment in which it will be used and under which conditions it will have to function must also be taken into account when choosing an RFID label. However, the choice of the correct RFID inlay is also of great importance here. An RFID inlay consists of a chip from certain manufacturers, possibly with additional user memory and a specific antenna. The combination of chip and antenna determines the possibilities as well as the behaviour of the RFID label. It is therefore extremely important that they be tailored to the application, the operational environment and in many cases also the effective value of the product to which it is attached. Standard RFID labels do not work on metal; special mount-on-metal tags have been developed for this purpose.
